Shiwani Kumar is a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist at Chase Lodge Autism and ADHD, with a strong passion for helping children reach their full potential in communication. Over the past three years, she has made a real difference in the lives of children and families by providing personalised care and support for those navigating autism and related communication challenges.
Shiwani earned her master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy from City University London. She is fully registered with the HCPC and RCSLT and specialises in paediatric care. From the outset of her career, she has been focused on helping children who face barriers to communication, tailoring her approach to meet each child’s specific needs.
At Chase Lodge Autism and ADHD, Shiwani plays a vital role in conducting ADOS assessments. Through these assessments, she identifies autism spectrum disorders and designs individualised interventions that address each child’s unique challenges. Her expertise in this area ensures children receive the right diagnosis and the appropriate care to support their communication development.
In addition to her assessment work, Shiwani works closely with school staff, parents, and other professionals. She provides guidance on communication strategies, making sure that each child’s strengths and needs are reflected in their Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs). This collaborative approach ensures children get the best support both in and outside of school.
During therapy sessions, Shiwani uses a creative mix of traditional methods and innovative techniques. She has significant experience working with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and children who are Gestalt Language Processors (GLP). Her focus is always on helping children improve their functional communication skills and develop their language abilities in a way that suits them best.
Shiwani is also deeply committed to supporting families from diagnosis through post-diagnostic care. She understands the importance of guiding parents and carers through every stage of the journey, offering ongoing support to help them feel confident and informed about their child’s communication needs.
Beyond her day-to-day clinical work, Shiwani is always looking to grow professionally, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in speech and language therapy. Her dedication to continuous learning allows her to provide the highest standard of care, ensuring children receive the most effective and current interventions.
Through her compassionate and expert approach, Shiwani creates a positive and nurturing environment where children can thrive. Her work at Chase Lodge Autism and ADHD has a lasting impact, enabling children to overcome communication barriers and achieve their full potential.
Shiwani Kumar’s role at Chase Lodge Autism and ADHD is all about personal care, collaboration, and innovative therapy. Her commitment to improving the lives of children and families makes her an invaluable member of the team, helping children to build their confidence and improve their communication skills every step of the way.
