Sports Injuries

When you play sports or exercise, you can sometimes injure yourself. A number of factors can lead to them, including accidents, poor training practices, and improper equipment. In some cases, people get injured because they aren’t in shape. Injuries can also occur if you do not warm up and stretch enough.

The most common injuries are:

  • Strains and sprains
  • Injury to the knee
  • Muscle swelling
  • Injury to the Achilles tendon
  • Shin bone pain
  • Injuries to the rotator cuff
  • Broken bones (fractures)
  • Dislocations

Whenever you get hurt, you should stop playing. If you continue to play or exercise, you may cause more harm. A common treatment method for relieving pain, reducing swelling, and speeding healing is RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation). Pain relievers, preventing the injured area from moving, rehabilitation, and sometimes surgery are other possible treatments.
