Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that sometimes affects your eyes. Those with fair skin and women are at a higher risk of getting rosacea. Most commonly, it affects older and middle-aged people.

Rosacea usually affects only the face. It can cause a variety of symptoms, including:

  • Frequently red or flushed face
  • Lines under the skin that are small and red
  • Having acne
  • Nose swelling
  • Thick skin mostly on the forehead but also on the chin, and cheeks
  • Eye irritation, redness, and itching, as well as problems with vision

The cause of rosacea is unknown. Rosacea may run in families. The condition is not dangerous.

Treatments can help, but there is no cure. Medication and sometimes surgery may be involved.
