Dr Shah, PhD, MRCP (Resp), MBBS, BSc (Hons), qualified with distinctions in medicine from Imperial College London in 2013, having completed a BSc in Haematology in 2009. He completed his specialist training in respiratory and general medicine in the North Central/East London Deanery. During his training he undertook a fellowship in sleep and ventilation at the Royal Free Hospital and a CRN NIHR funded Long-COVID clinical fellowship. He also completed a PhD with University College London, looking at the role of wearable technology in chronic respiratory diseases including both obstructive sleep apnoea and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Dr Shah was appointed as a consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine with a sub-specialist interest in Sleep and Ventilation at the Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2025. He cares for patients with a wide range of respiratory and general medicine problems, with a specialist interest in obstructive and central sleep apnoea, respiratory failure, breathlessness management and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He is currently the Central and North West London London COPD co-lead.

His academic interests are focussed on sleep-disordered breathing, COPD, wearable technology and complex non-linear analysis methodology, creating network physiology maps that highlight intersections between the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals, ensuring that his private practice is informed by the latest evidence and active clinical work.

Dr Shah is bilingual and can offer consultations in Gujarati as well as English.
