Lymphoedema

Lymphedema is a form of swelling. The condition occurs when lymph accumulates in your soft tissues. The lymph contains white blood cells that fight germs. A damaged or blocked lymphatic system can cause it to build up. In most cases, it affects the arms or legs.

Lymphedema has several causes, including:

  • An infection
  • Having cancer
  • Radiation scars and lymph node removal scars
  • An inherited condition characterized by the absence or abnormality of lymph nodes or vessels

It is possible to control symptoms with treatment. Exercise, compression devices, skin care, and massage are all part of it.
