Eczema

The term eczema refers to several types of swelling on the skin. Dermatitis is another name for Eczema. In most cases, it causes dry, itchy skin and rashes on the face, elbows, knees, hands, and feet. The skin can become reddened and swollen after scratching, causing it to itch even worse.

Eczema does not spread from person to person.

There is no known cause of eczema. Environmental and genetic factors are likely to be involved in its development. In most cases, eczema is a chronic disease that improves or worsens over time. Asthma and hay fever can also occur in people who have them.

Atopic dermatitis is the most common type of eczema. Infants and children are most likely to suffer from it, but adults can also suffer from it. It is possible for atopic dermatitis to improve with age or even disappear. However, sometimes the skin remains dry and irritated.

Medicines, creams, light therapy, and proper skin care are some of the treatments available. It is possible to prevent some types of eczema by avoiding:
  • Soaps, fabrics, and lotions that irritate your skin
  • Experiencing stress
  • Animals, pollen, and food can cause allergies
